DOSAGE FORMS
HARD CAPSULES
WE PRODUCE FOR YOU FROM A MINIMUM QUANTITY OF MERELY 100,000 PIECES
Capsules are understood to be the two-piece gelatin or cellulose capsules finding their use as dietary supplements as well as in many cases as pharmaceutical products. Their biggest advantages are their simple administration and intake as well as the cheaper, more flexible production. Vegetarian capsules are a gelatin-free alternative finding ever-more demand, as lately by-products of meat such as gelatin have been contested by the consumers.
SOFT CAPSULES
WE PRODUCE FOR YOU FROM A MINIMUM QUANTITY OF MERELY 300,000 PIECES
Softgels are understood to be one-piece gelatin capsules that are used mainly for liquid and lipid-bound products. Vegetarian softgels have already been introduced on the market, but the consumers were initially reluctant to accept these. One advantage of soft capsules is the ability to accurately dispense pure oils or suspensions. However, it is not possible to break open softgels for specific purposes or release their contents; therefore each unit of this product must be taken as a whole.
Soft capsules require a specialized and somewhat more elaborate production than tablets or the filling of hard capsules, which of course is obviously reflected in the price.
TABLETS
WE PRODUCE FOR YOU FROM A MINIMUM QUANTITY OF MERELY 100,000 PIECES
Tablets are a commonly used form of dietary supplements. The contents of tablets may partly consist of raw materials only, without any excipients. Tablets have a long-term shelf life similar to capsules and maintain their effectiveness for longer periods than e.g. liquids. Tablets can be produced in various sizes and formats. Only tablets of excessive size may lead to a problematic consumption, as they are harder to swallow than smaller ones. Furthermore, tablets provide less flexibility in dosing as compared to powder or liquids.
Chewable tablets are familiar to everybody, so a more detailed analysis is not needed. Their more cost-intensive production method, the calculation of which is based on the price per milligram, has to be mentioned here. Moreover, they have a reputation of developing reduced effectiveness as seen upon direct comparison with other dosage forms. Commonly, sugar and flavoring are added, which, however, is not well-approved of by health-conscious consumers. Chewable tablets are favored by children or those consumers who have difficulties in taking tablets or capsules.
POWDER
WE PRODUCE FOR YOU FROM A MINIMUM QUANTITY OF MERELY 500KG
With respect to the price per unit of raw material, the powder can be produced in a more cost-effective manner and be more comfortable to ingest as it can be mixed into shakes and various other liquids or meals. Furthermore, powder allows greater flexibility in dosage because it can be individually adapted to the needs, making it superior with respect to dosage, to tablets or capsules.
The intake of powder is especially useful when having to apportion additives in gram units such as creatine, protein, and glutamines. For example, in a standard dose of 5 grams of creatine, only one small spatula of tasteless powder is needed, which can be mixed with water or juice. If you want to achieve the same dosage in the form of capsules, you would need 10 x 500mg capsules or 5 extra-large 1g capsules.
LIQUID DOSAGE FORMS
PRODUCTION BY OUR PARTNER FROM A MINIMUM QUANTITY OF 1.000 L
Liquid supplements are still given priority by consumers as they speculate that the liquid form of dietary supplements can be absorbed faster and thus consumed more efficiently by the body, as compared to other forms of dosage. Even if this were the case, the difference detected in the nutrient intake would not be significant enough. For this reason, this thesis concerning liquid supplements is losing importance. As a matter of fact, slow absorption of essential nutrients can even be beneficial. One big advantage, however, is the flexibility in dosing as well as in the simplified consumption thanks to the liquid form.
But with respect both to the purchase price of the primary products and the durability, they cannot compete with other dosage forms. In practice, even their transportation is more difficult. In addition, they are not as easily carried along as compared to tablets or capsules, and frequently they even have to be cooled. Liquid supplements require very careful production, because it lays the foundation for whether the ingredients accumulate at the bottom between the applications, which can turn out to be quite problematic. For even though the bottle can be shaken before each ingestion, this still does not assure the exact distribution of the ingredients. Other than is the case with tablets or capsules, this may lead to inaccurate dosage.
