PHILOSOPHY & STORY

Biohealth is a contract manufacturer of healthy and innovative products in the following fields:

  • Functional food products
  • Dietary foods 

Together, we find customised solutions for you – from capsules to tablets and powdered blends to liquid dosage forms in ampoules or dropper bottles. Thanks to our decades of experience we can offer you expert support – from the initial product concept to the finished product.

Our Story

Biohealth has its headquarters in Münchberg and was founded in October 2003 by Rudolf Gebhardt. From the beginnings of production in Sparneck with just one production assistant and dedicated family members, the company grew and developed. Over time, bringing on strategic partners and the son of the company founder, Mr Stefan Gebhardt, taking over executive management in July 2007. It is now a dynamic and growing company with more than 250 permanent employees.

BUSINESS EXPANSION

A fast-growing customer base has meant that BHI has been continuously expanding production capacities since its establishment. Another production site was set up in Weißenstadt in 2008 and in January 2012 the two production sites were amalgamated and relocated to a larger company premises in Münchberg. In 2017 the production building was expanded with a 1,400 sqm extension.

The new building complex has two stories with further production areas, new storage areas, a state-of-the-art laboratory with a technical centre and new administrative offices. These have enabled us to further improve production processes, expand our machinery and maintain higher quality standards. The site in Münchberg now covers a total of 20,000 square metres.

INTERNATIONAL GROWTH

BHI has also grown internationally. For instance, BHI Austria in Salzburg has provided another commercial centre of competence to develop our network. In 2020, Biohealth began a joint venture with Uelzena eG, a dairy cooperative based in Lower Saxony, which brought its health division, nutrineo, into the Biohealth business. This has helped acquire new customers, tap into new sales markets and significantly expand our activities, including in the Asian market.

Our mission statement was developed together with Biohealth employees. It serves as guidance for our future work and forms the basis of our activities. It also describes our motivation, the strategic goals and the values by which we live.
