Growing together: We have officially opened our BHI forest

A patch of woodland that will grow with us in the future

What began in 2025 as a tree-planting initiative now has a home: our BHI forest near Zell in the Fichtelgebirge. Last weekend, our colleagues spent a morning together in the forest. They planted Douglas firs and service trees, gained fascinating insights into the forest from representatives of the Bavarian State Forestry Service, and rounded off the day with lunch. It is precisely experiences like these that demonstrate what our sense of community is all about.

From the contract to the BHI Forest

Since the start of 2025, we have been planting a tree or shrub in the Fichtelgebirge and the Franconian Forest for every order item delivered. In this way, we link our success as a company with a sustainable contribution to our region.

On Forest Day, we experienced the tree-planting campaign together for the first time. Some of the trees made possible by our tree-planting campaign are now growing in our BHI Forest – a place not far from our company headquarters that we can all visit and enjoy together at any time.

A morning filled with nature and togetherness

Our day in the forest began with a welcome from our Managing Director, Dr Peter Pfeilschifter, followed by the official presentation of a donation cheque to Christian Zuber, Mayor of Münchberg, as well as Forestry Councillor Robert Geiser and Forester Dierk Schüder, both from the Bayerische Staatsforsten. 

After that, it was off into the woods. The two representatives from the Bavarian State Forestry Authority explained to us the vital role trees play for the climate and biodiversity. We experienced the forest with all our senses. And then: gloves on, spades in hand, and off we went to plant seedlings together.

To round off the morning, we enjoyed a shared snack of schnitzel, potato salad and good conversation.

Our tree-planting campaign continues to grow

Our Forest Day was the perfect opportunity to highlight what we have already achieved together. Since 2025, our tree-planting initiative has continued to grow with every new order: as a result, we have already planted a total of around 3,900 trees and shrubs. This equates to a CO₂ offset of around 15 tonnes of CO₂, comparable to approximately 290,000 kilometres driven by an average petrol-powered car.

Sustainability begins with steps we take together

For us, sustainability means not only thinking for the long term, but also acting together.

Our BHI Forest embodies precisely this: it links our day-to-day work with a tangible result and creates a place that will continue to remind us in the future of what we can achieve together.

We would like to thank all our colleagues who helped organise this special day so that we could plant trees together and officially open our BHI forest. We are already looking forward to watching this forest grow over the coming years.
