Fight fatigue, strengthen the immune system | News August

Melatonin, Glutamine, Sleep, Energy, Immune Boost

Do you often fight tiredness and feel exhausted, or do you want to strengthen your immune system? In this newsletter, we are showcasing the products that can remedy this situation. We also have something up our sleeves to combat sleepless nights.

Sleep yourself happy

We have a tip and the perfect product if you suffer from insomnia: Melatonin is the hormone that can help us drift off into the land of sweet dreams. It initiates the onset of sleep and announces to the body that it is time to lie down and doze off. Usually, melatonin is released if it’s dark, or during the evening. However, if you are stressed or have to follow an unnatural rhythm of life as is the case with shift work, this may disrupt your melatonin production. Our capsules with melatonin, plant substances and magnesium can help you fall asleep more quickly and help your body return to a natural hormonal balance. Melatonin is the counterpart to the stress hormone cortisol and can help to reduce stress while you sleep. Serotonin – our happy hormone – takes over during the day and is tasked with keeping us alert. If a healthy melatonin-induced sleep reduces our cortisol, serotonin can then achieve its full potential and make us feel happier.

For greater relaxation and to fall asleep more easily, ask us about our melatonin capsules.

The smooth immunity boost

Many people swear by smoothies to fight tiredness and strengthen their defences. Green smoothies contain a lot of vegetables like spinach and lamb’s lettuce. Red smoothies mostly contain berries (e.g. blueberries, raspberries, redcurrants) and other red fruits such as cherries. Yellow smoothies include ingredients such as mango, pineapple or apricots.

Our Red Immun Smoothie powder delivers high levels of vitamin C and D with added extracts of goji and acai berry along with acerola cherry. Goji berries – also known as the happy berry in China – are known for strengthening the immune system and taking the edge off stress and fatigue. Acai berries are supposed to stimulate the metabolism and the body’s defences. Acerola cherry is a source of vitamin C and is said to have an antioxidative and immune-strengthening effect. As well as the above extracts, our smoothie also contains another 13 fruit powders and 9 vegetable powders, rounded off with a delicious forest fruits flavour. Ask for your own personal sample!

Did you know ...

that the term smoothie was first used in the 1980s for beverages made from puréed fruit and vegetables, even though the first publication of this word dates back to an American dictionary in 1904? Before the popular beverage got its well-known name today, the term smoothie was used for people who displayed particular eloquence and good manners.

Glutamine – the underrated amino acid

Athletes generally know the amino acid L-glutamine. Most types of tissue in the body can produce glutamine, which is why it is the most abundant amino acid in the human body. However, stressful situations, such as frequent physical strain or injury, triple or even quadruple the body’s need for glutamine. This amino acid is a driving force in cell division (wound healing), it is a vital antioxidant, necessary for nitrogen transport. It is involved in the formation of numerous metabolic products and is a building block for proteins, an important basis for neurotransmitters in the brain. It can also reduce blood sugar levels and support the growth of immune cells.

A supporting dose of 5 to 10 g glutamine a day is recommended. For extremely stressful conditions such as intense sport or injury – also after surgery, it may be useful to take 10 to 20 g glutamine a day. It can accelerate wound healing, regenerate muscles more quickly and keep the brain active.

Helping against long Covid

Fatigue, concentration problems, shortness of breath: You may still be experiencing health problems months after contracting the coronavirus. A possible solution may be to support your immune system, and taking specific vitamins and plant substances can help recovery.

For example, ginkgo and ginseng extract are known to improve memory and focus, while vitamin B12 is also a key vitamin that is essential in the fight against fatigue. In fact, a vitamin B12 deficiency results in tiredness and fatigue in the long term. If you also suffer with an allergy, shortness of breath happens more quickly. This is why it is useful to optimise your supply of vital substances. Black cumin extract or oil can help to reduce allergic reactions and minimise the overall burden on your body, while stimulating substances, such as ginger, turmeric and garlic, can support circulation.
