Greens, Detox, Spermidine

Greens are trendy right now. Discover the key facts about green powders in this issue of our newsletter. As well as our product concepts, we discuss detoxing and the latest food legislation regarding spermidine.

Greens – the goodie bag of nutritional supplements

Green powdered products are designed for blending to create highly nutritious beverages. They’re named after the green vegetables these powders and extracts are based on and which are a major component of these greens. Along with vegetable powders, these products can contain an array of other ingredients such as grasses, functional mushrooms, fibre, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and microorganisms. The ingredient lists of greens are often very long to incorporate as many different raw ingredients as possible. However, a product with a list of 50 ingredients often offers no appreciable added value over a product with 25 ingredients. As is often the case in life – less can sometimes be more!

But why are greens so good? Thanks to the vitamins and minerals that they contain, they are said to support the energy metabolism and immune system. The fibre, enzymes and microorganisms they contain may promote digestion. Greens are often attributed with having a detoxifying effect as a result of the antioxidants they can contain, which suggests that drinking a green shake can improve your general well-being.
We have developed a strawberry and lime flavoured greens shake, which tastes completely unlike the mass of green products on the market. It is set to impress with selected ingredients such as wheatgrass, broccoli, spinach, matcha, spirulina, chlorella, vitamins and digestive enzymes. And an inactivated, dried yeast is included as a source of B vitamins. Ask us for your personal sample today and see for yourself!

Spermidine-enriched sprouted buckwheat flour – novel food

According to a new judgement of the Court of Justice of the European Union, buckwheat seeds germinated in a nutrient solution are to be classified as a novel food if they are enriched with specific substances from the nutrient solution. The reasoning is that this enrichment gives rise to a change in the composition and structure of the food. This concerns spermidine-enriched sprouted buckwheat flour, as germinating in a nutrient solution can achieve a spermidine content of up to 300 times a naturally occurring level. Other unenriched ingredients (e.g. soybean extract, chlorella powder) should therefore be used for spermidine products if you don’t wish to classify your product as a novel food. We would be happy to create a customised spermidine product for you with one of these ingredients.

New Year, new resolutions, a healthier life

Many people make New Year’s resolutions with popular goals being to lose weight, exercise more, eat more healthily or drink less alcohol. In line with this we have developed our Detoxifying elixir, which can support your detox. It contains activated charcoal, which can bind harmful substances and ensure these are eliminated from your body. Other components of the drink include black radish powder, nettle extract and dandelion root powder. Black radish is said to stimulate the digestion and activate bile formation. Nettle is said to work as a diuretic and to stimulate the metabolism. And dandelion is known, for example, for its properties that support digestion and protect the liver. We have also included fibres such as inulin and psyllium husk and as a final flourish, our elixir has a delicious pineapple and coconut flavour, which adds a tropical vibe.

Happy New Year!

We hope you have had a brilliant start to the year and we are looking forward to continuing our successful and close collaboration!
